Yay, the cooking carousel has moved and we are celebrating with delicious cinnamon buns

My dears, today I let the champagne corks pop and spend a round of glitter confetti for all. Finally, the move from Blogger to WordPress is done! And completely on your own. While others trustingly turn to a professional, Madame naturally had to take charge of everything herself. I can tell you, it was definitely nerve-wracking. But now that it’s done, I’m just happy and proud and know: If I can, you can do that for a long time!

To celebrate the day, I brought wonderful sticky cinnamon buns. Grab some of the delicious things, make yourself comfortable and then I’ll tell you some top secret details about the move, yes?

First of all the good news: if you do not want to change much in your design or are already at WordPress.com, the move is not that complicated. Basically, you just have to choose a theme (something like the skeleton of the blog) and transfer your pages and posts. There is even an extra feature in WordPress, so it’s really easy.

Individual Design and Many Features

If you want to customize your layout and use a lot of different plugins (small programs that can make your blogger day a lot easier), then a little initiative is needed. I have rummaged through countless instructions in search of tips and tricks. You definitely have to be prepared to spend a bit of time on HTML and CSS. But do not worry, you really do not have to learn it, because I do not have it either. But psst.

It took me two weeks to complete the move. During this time, I signed up with a host, bought the new address Kochkarussell.com and a theme that I absolutely fell in love with. Then I transferred and adapted all the mail, installed plugins and ventured with my non-existent computer science knowledge to the processing of important files. A few emails with the dear Jodi from the customer service, who has so many times saved my blog and that’s it. Easy peasy, what?
