I admit, the title is quite full-bodied. But for me there is simply no better potato salad. With the world’s best potato salad, I grew up and there is no holiday with my relatives in Bayern, without me at least a large bowl verdrücke.
Even as a little girl, I watched my grandmother with joy as she prepared the potato salad. Back then, because of acute clumsiness, I was only allowed to take on such responsible tasks as “giving broth powder over the potatoes”, but for me it was a dream.
And while I was watching my grandma on one of the old kitchen chairs conjuring up the perfect potato salad every time, I was able to dust off one or the other trick.
There are three secrets to this salad. Pssst, I’ll introduce you now to the highly secret potato salad wisdom. So ears pointed and off for it.
1. Broth and vinegar make the potatoes tender
You should peel the potatoes lukewarm and immediately turn them on with broth and vinegar. This makes the potatoes tender and completely absorbs the taste. You add the oil later.
2. Add the radish first to the cooled salad
The same applies to the radishes: be sure to add them when the lettuce is completely cooled and pulled through. Otherwise it can happen that the salad gets a nice pink tone. You know, that I love pink , but with potato salad my enthusiasm stops even with me.
3. The broth makes it
The most important thing, however, is the broth. Only with a really strong broth you give the potato salad its unique taste. It is up to you whether you cook your own vegetable broth or you fall back on the finished version. In our family everyone swears by their own version, I like to use grained organic broth because it’s easy to dose.
You can also customize the salad ingredients to your liking. How about, for example, a little more vinegar or other spices? Just make sure that you follow the general instructions, so that the potato salad is nice and not muddy.
What can you never miss with a creamy-spicy potato salad? Exactly, a crispy companion. Today we have the veggie schnitzel from Rügenwalder Mühle * in strip form.
Do you already know the new #veggie chips ? The vegetarian soy-based schnitzels are available in classic, cordon bleu, tomato & paprika and as mill nuggets. I have to say that taste and consistency surprised me positively.
The breadcrumbs are super crunchy and the consistency is also very close to plain Schnitzel Wiener Art.
After a traumatic soy sausage experience a few years ago, I had not eaten any soy products for a long time, but the schnitzel even tasted to my sweetheart. Golden brown and crispy as we like it.
