Do you know what I’ve noticed lately? You’re up for Basic Recipes ! Simple, damn delicious recipes that you can customize to your taste and the current situation in the fridge and pantry.
That’s why today we start with the absolute basic recipe par excellence: A really good tomato sauce.
But not the classic tomato sauce that you’ve been putting together for ages and three days from a few ingredients. No, today there is 15-minute tomato sauce, deliciously tomato, garlic and creamy than ever with a decent bland cream cheese. All vegetables, which is not on the tree and your pasta party can begin!
In a nutshell: For this pasta with tomato cream cheese sauce and spinach you only need 9 ingredients and 15 minutes Time!
It all starts with a solid tomato sauce base. Onion and garlic are tossed in olive oil for a few minutes for extra flavor. Then add a tin of chopped tomatoes, a little tomato paste and cream cheese and the sauce is allowed to simmer to a perfectly velvety consistency. Finally, season with salt, pepper and a pinch of sugar. My grandma says that tomatoes always need sugar. And we know, Omis are always right!
Now comes the freestyle part . With me there is the sauce with tender baby spinach. He just comes in the pan …
… and may collapse, done.
But you can, as I said, really take everything the vegetable supplies give. How about with:
- Small round Cherry tomatoes
- Paprika cubes
- Fresh herbs such as basil, oregano and thyme
Depending on how tough the vegetables are and how long the cooking takes, you can just use the ingredients in the sauce simmer or sauté in a pan in a little olive oil. Easy.
I hope you will love this recipe!
