Anyway, I can well imagine that your relationship with artichokes so far looked like mine. I always found these things exciting (and pretty!), But I’ve never cooked with them. Maybe that’s because the preparation of fresh artichokes in my head is a bit scary. Remove hard leaves, scrape out hay and clean artichoke bottom? No, we prefer to start with a set of artichokes.

Place the artichokes, onion, garlic, pasta, butter, milk and vegetable broth in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is cooked.
