If you take only one from this post, then please: PROBED THIS SOUP!
For I make friends of you, Grandma’s Lentil Soup with Sausages is like a big, warm hug. The soup is hearty, packed with carrots, leeks, potatoes & lentils and nicely spicy with bacon and wiener sausages. And as if that were not enough, a pinch of sugar, a dash of vinegar and * drum roll * cumin provide the hearty kick that makes the baby the snugest soup of the season.
And I have not mentioned the best yet! It’s like this: this soup helps against everything. Doofer day? Lentil soup! Sorry that the summer is slowly saying goodbye? Lentil soup! Once again much less accomplished than made? Lentil soup!
Oh yes, friends, this lentil soup is soulfood in a class of its own and yet so easy that you can prepare it in 20 minutes. So, let’s go!
I always used to think that classic lentil soup would be super elaborate. In my head, the preparation was something like this: First chop vegetables forever, then stir every 2 minutes and in the end I’m still disappointed, because it tastes completely different from grandma.
If you have been so far, I have good news: For this quick lentil soup with sausage you only need a pot and 20 minutes preparation time.
The whole preparation runs like this:
1. Beat the bacon and onion and fry.
2. Snibble Vegetables, Add Lentils and stock and let the stove do the work.
3. Season the soup, let the sausage get hot in it and start to feed.
There’s a special trick when it comes to seasoning. For me vinegar and a little sugar are absolutely in the classic lentil soup, because they give it their unmistakable taste. Even better is grandma’s lentil soup but with a little cumin. The tip I have snapped in the vastness of the Internet and Madre Mio, he is good!
Oh, one more thing, the soup can be prepared perfectly and tastes even better on the second day. This means that if you have a stressful day tomorrow, you just cook an extra-large portion today and be safe. You can also freeze the lentil soup wonderfully. A large portion of it in the freezer has already saved me more than once in a surprise visit with bear hunger, so do you the favor.
Let me summarize again why you must try this recipe.
